Texas Hold em poker has become something that I cannot live without. I have to play at least twice a week and no I am not an outta control gambler, I just love playing, it is such an exciting and intelligent game to play, and to all of those that agree that is more to do with luck hahahahahahahaha, beginners luck you mean. It is more about playing the players than playing the cards, I have seen some players with amazing hands fold because they have been out played mentally.
I was very happy to find out that my University was to create a ‘Poker Society’ and I cannot wait to register and participate. Read more

Last week I attended an ‘XML for Web Developers’course in Holborn. After being booked on this course by my line manager, I decided to brush up on my HTML skills and prepare fully to ensure that I got the most out of the course. After tasks such as completely re-coding parts of the University of Hertfordshire HR website including the additions of CSS I then felt confident.
XML was an area that I had a slight understanding of. What is it for? Why is it used? These are some of the questions that I tried to have answered before attending the course, but unfortunately I did not feel I was able to answer these questions with confidence, so I was hopeful that all would become clearer during the course.
Once I took my seat the course instructors first words were, ‘I shall start by explaining exactly what XML is and why it is used’,

I am nearing the end of my year’s industrial placement (work experience) that I had decided to do as part of my degree in Computer Science.
I am working within the Human Resources department at the University of Hertfordshire (the same university where I am completing my degree). The HR department consists of approximately 25 employees, and of those myself and another student placement (Jerome Tan) and our manager form the HR IT Team. It is our duty to support all workstations, programs and peripherals used within the department.
Furthermore, it is my job to ensure that the Human Resources website is up to date and running smoothly. A task of mine was to to reorganise the website by removing repetitive data and also the removal of old unwanted content. I also changed some aspects of the structure which helped to make finding content easier and more user friendly.
